Pedigree and health, without guessing

For breeders who want pairing decisions based on what is actually recorded.

Pedigree you set once

Set a sire and dam once, on the animals, and read the lineage back. Ancestors nobody has recorded are shown as unrecorded rather than guessed, so a gap in the pedigree looks like a gap.

Inbreeding coefficient for a planned pairing

urBreeder calculates the coefficient of inbreeding (COI) for a planned pairing from the pedigree you have recorded, and tells you how many ancestors it could actually see.

A thin pedigree is flagged. A low number calculated from two generations is not the same as a low number from eight, and urBreeder will not let one pass for the other.

Health checks with sourced ranges

Record health-check sessions and their observations. When a reading falls outside a sourced reference range you get a flag to acknowledge. Where no range is on file, it says so rather than staying silent.

Each session produces a report you can export for a buyer, a vet or your own files.

Document expiry reminders

For animals still in your program, you get a reminder before a document you have on file expires: 90, 30 and 7 days ahead, and on the day itself.

Genetic test results

Planned

Results from genetic-testing laboratories recorded against the animal they describe, without retyping them.

Questions

How is COI calculated?

From the pedigree you have recorded. The result says how many ancestors it could see, and a thin pedigree is flagged.

What if an ancestor is unknown?

It is shown as unrecorded, not guessed.

Can lab DNA results be imported?

Not yet. Importing results from genetic-testing laboratories is planned.
